They reach. They turn away. They watch. They protest. They persist. They become completely absorbed in something that has caught their attention.
As educators, we see these behaviours all day long. But mind-mindedness invites us to look a little deeper — to wonder about the thoughts, feelings, intentions, desires and preferences that might sit behind what we can see.
What is this baby trying to do?
What might they be feeling?
What has captured their interest?
What do they want to happen next?
Mind-Mindedness: A ready-to-run CPD workshop to help you see the mind behind the behaviour gives you everything you need to explore this fascinating, research-informed idea with your baby room team.
At the heart of the pack is an interactive 50-minute workshop. Your team will explore what mind-mindedness means, discover what mind-minded language actually sounds like, and practise responding to familiar baby room moments in ways that recognise babies as people with minds of their own.
And this isn’t CPD where educators simply sit and listen.
They’ll think about babies they know. They’ll puzzle over what might be going on behind a baby’s behaviour. They’ll play Spot the Mind-Minded Language. They’ll take ordinary educator responses and challenge themselves to make them more mind-minded. And they’ll leave with a simple process they can start using straight away:

The pack also gives you, as facilitator, the opportunity to deepen your own professional knowledge. The accompanying Facilitator Learning Guide takes you into the research and thinking behind mind-mindedness, so you can lead the session with confidence and understand not just what you’re asking your team to practise, but why it matters.
And the learning doesn’t end when the workshop does.
The Our Mind-Minded Language challenge gets your team listening out for, capturing and celebrating real examples of mind-minded talk in your baby room. A set of playful Team Challenges & Check-ins then gives you easy ways to revisit the ideas over the following days and weeks — from imagining a baby’s internal monologue to zooming in on the inner world of a baby who is often described as ‘fussy’ or ‘clingy’.
