Description
In ‘Co-Regulation through the Baby Room Day’, we’ll explore how babies’ capacity to soothe and regulate their own physical and emotional needs depends on their early experiences of co-regulation. We’ll look at what co-regulation is and how we can support babies not just in moments of distress, but right through the rhythm of the baby room day. We’ll pay particular attention to the trickier parts of the day – including transitions, arrivals, mealtimes, sleep and care routines – and consider how predictable rhythms, responsive interactions and effective co-regulation strategies can help babies navigate these moments. We’ll also explore how our own self-regulation is a vital part of co-regulation, particularly when the baby room feels busy, unpredictable or stressful.
We will focus on:
- What co-regulation is and how it supports babies’ developing capacity for self-regulation
- How to use co-regulation strategies throughout the baby room day
- Supporting babies through transitions, routines and the trickier moments of the day
