Less doing and more BEING with babies (1 hour, online workshop, next available date 9.30-10.30am Tuesday 23rd February 2027)

£10.00

In ‘Less doing, more BEING with babies’, we’ll explore how important it is to slow down and be fully present with babies when we are caring for them. We’ll look at what happens when we focus a little less on doing and make more space for simply being with babies, and the benefits this brings for both babies and adults. We’ll explore some of the things that get in the way of slowing down and being in the moment, and consider practical ways to overcome these hurdles, both as individuals and as a whole baby room team.

Description

In ‘Less doing, more BEING with babies’, we’ll explore the importance of slowing down and being fully present with babies in the midst of a busy baby room day. We’ll think about what changes when we focus a little less on doing – completing tasks, organising activities and getting through routines – and make more space for simply being with babies. We’ll look at the benefits of this approach, both for babies and for the adults caring for them, and explore the things that can get in the way of slowing down and being in the moment. Together, we’ll consider practical ways to create more space for presence, connection and unhurried time with babies, both individually and as a baby room team.

We will focus on:

  • Why babies need adults who can slow down, be present and simply be with them
  • How less doing and more being can benefit us as adults caring for babies
  • The challenges of ‘just’ being with babies – and the pressures and expectations that can get in the way
  • Practical approaches we can take, individually and as a team, to create more space for presence and connection

What you’ll get:

  • A deeper understanding of why slowing down and being with babies is an essential part of baby room practice
  • Practical ideas for creating more moments of calm, presence and connection throughout the day
  • Opportunities to learn from other baby room educators and leaders
  • A slide deck that you can use to cascade learning with your team
  • A digital certificate of attendance and participation

Course Facilitator:

The course will be facilitated by Dr Mona Sakr, Associate Professor of Early Childhood, author, speaker and founder of Baby Rooms – Inspiring Leaders.
